Platform · Our own campaign

A crew app for people going to Burning Man that works with no signal, live in nine days.

Phone signal in Black Rock City can’t be counted on. We built our own Bridgit campaign for people heading to Burning Man 2026: they could sign up on the web, get matched into small crews, plan from the event guide and save a pocket pack that opens with no connection. It went live nine days after the feasibility study began.

  • 9 days

from the start of the feasibility study to live

  • Offline

after one online visit, the pocket pack works with no signal

The challenge

Black Rock City is a temporary city in the Nevada desert, and phone signal there can’t be counted on. The week’s event guide runs to thousands of listings, and plenty of people arrive knowing only their camp, or no one. An app that needs a connection stops being useful the moment you get there. And there was little time: everything had to work before people left home.

What we built

  • A campaign on Bridgit’s campaign platform: a public page and open signup on the web, with an optional camp tag.
  • Crew matching, so people going on their own were grouped into small crews.
  • The event guide, imported from the public event listings, with filters and a “For you” ranking.
  • A pocket pack: one online visit saves your plan, your crew and a curated guide to the phone, and it opens with no signal.
  • Invite links with QR codes for each camp, so camps could bring their own people.

What it shows

The campaign went live nine days after the feasibility study began. The parts built for it, the offline pocket pack, open signup and optional tags, are now part of the platform, so any campaign can use them.
